How to Rock Climb

Rock climbing is a popular sport around the world that uses many different muscles in the body to bring you to new levels. To safely rock climb there are a few steps to follow along the way. Learning these steps is the first part of mastering rock climbing in a way that can take you to places you have never seen in the past.

  1. First: Purchase gear

If you have not previously rock climbed then you need to purchase gear to help you climb to the summit you wish to reach. Some of the gear you need to start with is shoes, rope and a security device. Good shoes are key to keeping your footing when you are on the rocks. Rope ties around you to help secure you to the rock in the event you lose your grip and slip. There are many types of security devices to help you climb and many of these devices are attachable to the rock as you make your ascent. All of this gear is absolutely necessary for safely rock climbing.

  2. Second: Secure yourself

There are several types of rock climbing that you can choose to embark upon. If you choose to rock climb indoors there is typically a secure rope that you can lock into prior to climbing. If you are climbing in a natural environment that has no device to lock into then you must secure yourself as you climb. Whichever method you choose, securing yourself during rock climbing is crucial to preventing a tragic accident from occurring.

  3. Third: Climb away

Once you have your gear and are secured in place, you can then start climbing. Rock climbing is done similar to climbing a ladder. You use your hands and feet to bring you closer to the top. Always look for a reasonable place to place your hands, then place your feet in the same spot once you move higher. In no time you are sure to find yourself standing at the top of the rock.
